Subject : Request to exclude Plywood Industry from RCEP
Respected Sir,
This is an SOS to save the Plywood industry from the upcoming RCEP agreement. Currently the Plywood/Wood Panel industry in India is barely anyhow surviving & lot many units have shutdown in wake of cheaper imports from China.
The Plywood Industry in India is almost fully dependent on Plantation Trees (Poplar and Eucalyptus) & grown by farmers in most parts of India and directly & indirectly provided sustenance to millions of people.
Almost our industry is MSME and provides huge employment to semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
Due to rising population the jungles in India are fast dwindling & Plantation trees are acting as lungs of the environment in India. The Plywood industry will certainly shutdown in India if it is included in RCEP. As a result the farmers will stop growing Plantation Trees. Whatever little oxygen Delhi & the NCR region is receiving it is receiving from the crores of Plantation Trees growth in North India.
The future of Plywood factories, lakhs of workers, lakhs of famers growing the plantation trees & above all the survival of Mother Nature is on your hands.
It is our humble request to exclude Plywood Industry from RCEP & save our livelihood as well as lakhs of farmers and semi-skilled and unskilled workers.
