Speaking at the inaugural session of the India Virtual FMCG Supply Chain Expo 2020 organized by the Federation of Indian Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Goyal said that there was a need for a fair and interconnected approach to Indian goods and that businesses should be among the equals. .<\/p>\n

He said, ‘Nowadays whenever I promote domestic industry, it is heard that we are moving towards the days of License Raj. For so many years I had been hearing that there is a lack of equal opportunity between local and global companies. Now when we are trying to improve this situation, our criticism is increasing.<\/strong><\/p>\n

India is increasing restrictions on the import of products and parts, especially from China, as part of its self-reliance program.<\/p>\n

The new ban on imports has been imposed after the decision of mandatory approval of the government prior to foreign investments from border sharing countries with India including China. Goyal, said the government was reviewing all free trade agreements between 2009 and 2011 and found most of them to be odd.<\/strong> He said, ‘Our assessment is that in the free trade agreements earlier, foreign goods have been allowed to enter the country easily. But the entry of Indian goods into another country is not allowed in the same way. This system cannot last long. Countries should understand that if they want access to a market with a population of 130 crores, then they too have to provide access to their market for us.<\/p>\n

He said, “This is the time for India to focus on India where nationalization is being taken seriously rather than import of parts for assembly or semi-knocked down unit. The quality standard of Indian goods also needs to be improved.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
