Cost reduction and demand for houses are expected to improve.<\/p>\n<p>The RBI has increased the single party exposure limit for retail and small business loans from R5 crore to R7.5 crore. The RBI has relaxed the risk weighting for all new home loans to be taken by 31 March 2022. Under the existing system (in which it was linked to both the size and LTV of housing loan), now the credit risk will be linked only to LTV of housing loan. Although the RBI has not changed the repo rate, it has decreased by 115 basis points since March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Advisers say the central bank&#8217;s new move is likely to help customers of higher value loans and premium housing, as such loans had a significantly higher risk weight.<\/p>\n<p>SBI Chairman Dinesh Khara said that raising the risk weight limit for retail portfolios to R7.5 crore and linking the housing loan risk weight to LTV ratio are innovations of the policy.
