The central government has finalized toll collection based on GPS technology to ensure uninterrupted movement of vehicles across the country.\u00a0He said that this will ensure that India becomes toll free in the next two years.<\/p>\n

Speaking at an industrial event, the minister said that the toll amount will be deducted directly from the bank account based on the vehicle’s activity.\u00a0By the way, now all commercial vehicles are coming with a system to tell its status, the government will introduce a plan to introduce GPS technology in older vehicles.<\/p>\n

He said that toll collection will reach Rs 34,000 crore in March 2021 and the use of GPS technology for toll collection will increase to Rs 1.34 lakh crore in the next five years.\u00a0There will be no lapse in collection of collection by the use of technology and money can be transferred in a transparent manner.<\/p>\n

The government has introduced RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) tag for uninterrupted toll collection at plazas.<\/p>\n

The government introduced FASTAG based electronic toll collection system from December 15, 2019 on all toll plazas of NHAI.<\/p>\n

The government has recommended the use of Fastag on at least 75 per cent of the toll plazas and limited the cash payment to 25 per cent of the lanes.<\/p>\n
