Grasim has sold the fertilizer business within two years after the Tata group said goodbye to the sector. The company has sold its fertilizer business, blaming the reduction in returns and delay in subsidy payments from the Indian government.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Aditya Birla Group sold the business to Indorama Corporation for R2,649 crore, while Tata Chemicals sold its urea business to Yara Fertilizers of Norway for R2,682 crore in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>In June this year, Zuari Agro Chemicals, listed on the BSE, has decided to divest its Goa fertilizer plant of R2,100 crore to unlisted company Paradip Phosphates.<\/p>\n<p><strong>According to analysts, the fertilizer sector is facing the challenge of cheap products from China, Iran and Oman. Indian companies are reducing their investment as the government pays subsidy to the producer after about 6-12 months of selling the products to the farmers. As a result, fertilizer manufacturers have long working capital requirements that have increased their costs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The good news for new investors is that during April-August this year, sales of fertilizer were up by 25 percent.<\/strong><!--more--><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>\u0909\u0930\u094d\u0935\u0930\u0915
