The government has recently alerted investors around the world by taking strict action against taxi service company Didi Global. Didi is one of China&#8217;s superstar companies. The company raised money from global investors by listing on the New York Stock Exchange on June 30. It seems, Didi did the listing against the wishes of the Cyber \u200b\u200bSpace Administration of China. On July 4, the regulatory agency banned the company from the mobile app store in China. The agency says, Didi has broken the rules by collecting personal data.<\/p>\n<p>China&#8217;s technology industry has made a special place in the global economy in the past ten years. In this case, Alibaba, Tencent and Didi have shown the way to hundreds of small companies. Didi&#8217;s overseas shareholders include SoftBank and Uber. All the big tech companies in China are listed on the US or Hong Kong stock exchange instead of China. The tough crackdown on tech companies began last year after Chinese regulators temporarily halted Ant Group&#8217;s IPO on the Hong Kong-Shanghai stock exchange. The government has also threatened other tech companies. On July 5, three other apps were banned from listing new users.<\/p>\n<p>The government has indicated that powerful tech companies should follow the instructions of the ruling Communist Party. About 400 Chinese companies are associated with the US stock market. Their value is more than Rs 120 lakh crore. This investment is in jeopardy. On July 6, Chinese officials clarified that rules would be tightened with respect to companies linked to foreign stock exchanges.
