Two hundred lakh tonnes of stubble is presently a headache not only for Punjab but for the whole of North India. If it is disposed of properly, then there is a possibility of investment of 40 thousand crore rupees in this sector. Apart from this, the problem of importing petrol, diesel and chemical fertilizers in the country can be overcome. An MoU was signed between Punjab Investment Promotion and Renewable Gas Association of India to explore these possibilities.<\/p>\n

Sanjeev Nagpal, an expert in this sector said that German company Verbio has set up its first and the country’s largest plant in Punjab. Its capacity is to dispose of only one lakh metric tonnes of stubble, but from this plant, 33 thousand tonnes of bio-CNG gas, 550 tonnes of organic manure will be available daily from this stubble. He said that R220 crore has been spent on his plant and there is a possibility of setting up 200 such plants in Punjab itself. Due to the use of chemical fertilizers in Punjab, farmers’ products are not being exported. Such plants are also the solution, because after removing the methane gas produced before composting from the stubble, organic manure will be available. It will get 550 tonnes per day, but till now no company has come forward to buy this manure. However, an agreement has been signed with Indian Oil to buy the gas. If we handle and dispose of 200 lakh tonnes of stubble burning in Punjab properly, then the cost of import of crude oil can also be saved.<\/p>\n

Sanjeev Nagpal, who has been working to make bio-fertilizer from stubble for five years, said that methane is produced during the decomposition of biomass, which is 27 times more polluting than carbon dioxide, but if methane is used to make bio-CNG So we will have the best manure to survive. He told that we have also done its tests in collaboration with Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.<\/p>\n

Association’s general secretary Maninder Singh said that stubble is still considered as waste material, while it is wealth. He said that the government is not paying attention to this, it can be gauged from the fact that in 2023, 5000 plants for preparing bio-CNG should have been set up in the country, but there are not even a hundred big and small together. Maninder said that we hold the farmers responsible for the pollution caused in Delhi every year, but the subsidy being given to them on the machines is not being given to the plants, due to which not many plants have been set up.<\/strong><\/p>\n
