Disruption in the Chinese supply chains propelled by a fresh surge in Covid-19 cases in the neighboring country is unlikely to have a significant direct impact on Indian consumers, according to a survey conducted by Local Circles.<\/p>\n

This is largely due to the fact that an increasing number of Indian households have said they did not buy any made-in-China products in the last one year.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Of households that purchased China-made products during the period, over two-thirds consumers said they have reduced their purchases as compared to a year before.<\/p>\n

The survey also tries to understand the main reasons that prompted Indians to buy Chinese or Indian products during the last 12 months. The survey said that in their response, a majority of 61 percent households said that they bought more products made in India because of Indo-China affairs. 18 percent of households said that the Indian option was of better quality, 14 percent said that the Indian option was a better combination of price-quality.<\/p>\n

China is also the largest trading partner of India. According to official figures, in F21Y, the total trade between the two countries was $ 86.39 billion, with the balance of trade sloping in favor of China.<\/p>\n
