Increase in the prices of petrol and diesel, toll tax has made transporting costlier by one and a half times. This has a direct impact on the plywood industry. Increase in the fare by transporter has a direct impact on cost of plywood which is increasing rapidly. The plywood industry is already in trouble due to covid. Running the unit has become difficult due to rising oil prices at present. The truck which was earlier available for 10 thousand rupees is now at 13 to 14 thousand rupees. From March onwards, oil prices started rising. At present, oil has reached R100 per liter.<\/p>\n

Devendra Chawla, National President of All India Plywood manufacturing Association said that current period is most tough for plywood.Every raw material used in the ply industry is growing rapidly. The prices of chemical phenol, formaldehyde used in plywood have also increased. Many factories have been closed due to cost escalation, and many more are on the verge of closure. Increase in inflation brought the industry to the brink of closure.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Plywood is also affected by the increase in the price of iron and steel. Due to rising inflation, People are avoiding construction. Only essential Construction is going for reducing expenses. This is affecting the demand for ply. In such a situation, if the price increases, then the customer hesitates to buy. Most of the plywood industry operators are not in a position to produce and store the finished product in the warehouse. They do not have enough capital to do so. Inflation has increased their running capital manifold. To meet their daily expenses they are being forced to sell without margin. The problem multiples when the manufacturers who increase the rate, the demand for their goods in the market decreases. That’s why; the attempt to increase the rate is not proving to be very effective.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Karnal-based transporter Sultan Singh said that due to the increased prices of petrol-diesel and toll tax, transport has become expensive. Due to this, the cost of bringing raw material and sending the finished material has also increased. In such a situation, it is natural for the industrialists and traders to reduce their profits. Every business has been affected due to the increasing prices of petrol and diesel, due to which industries and businesses have been affected. But what can we do? We are also running short to pay our bank installments.<\/p>\n
