The RBI, too, was intervening at the 79.90\/$1 mark, which is why we didn\u2019t see 80\/$1 happening today itself,\u201d said a currency trader at a state-owned bank.<\/p>\n<p>The rupee marked a new closing low on every trading day this week as fears of a 100-basis-point rate hike by the Federal Reserve and the consequent strengthening of the dollar index eroded appetite for emerging market currencies.<\/p>\n<p>With the Federal Reserve poised to hike rates by 100 basis points at its meeting towards the end of July, traders see the rupee weakening past the 80-mark next week.<\/p>\n<p>If the US Federal Reserve tightens aggressively, it will have an impact on the rupee. &#8216;The effect will also depend on how weak the rupee is and for how long it remains stable on it. The sharp declines that preceded it tell us that the rupee has been diving against the dollar for a long period of time and has corrected when the risks have eased.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Due to higher inflation, the US Federal Reserve may increase policy rates by 100 basis points and this will increase the fear of recession.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2
