Views came from a survey of chief executive officers (CEOs).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nearly 67 per cent of the CEOs said a tumbling rupee has affected operations since raw material costs have gone up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe government should impose limits on the import of non-essential goods expedite dollar remittances for exporters, apart from easing norms for foreign investment,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cIt is expected that the government will impose higher import tax on all non-essentials in the near term,\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Nearly 60 per cent of the CEOs said with a deteriorating global economic environment and the rupee\u2019s movement, they expected demand for their products to wane, while another 40 per cent did not expect any change to their products or expansion plans.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since May this year, the repo rate has been increased by 190 bps to 5.9 per cent, a three-year high. This is a largely on expected line \u2013 as inflation continues to stay above 6 per cent, the upper level of its tolerance band, for the past eight months. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cThe RBI have announced another 50-bp hike but domestic demand is picking up fast, The government should take major steps in controlling fiscal deficit,\u201d said
