Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed concern over the expenditure on imports that burden the taxpayers, so it is time to work in ‘mission mode’ to make India self-reliant and reduce import dependence.<\/span><\/p>\n

Modi said that it is important for India to be self-reliant because disturbances in exporting countries affect India badly, as happened when war broke out between Russia and Ukraine.<\/span><\/p>\n

Modi said, “India’s biggest expenditure on imports today includes edible oil, fertilizers and crude oil, for which lakhs of crores of rupees have to be paid every year to other countries.” Apart from this, many types of chemicals, electronic products, wood and wood products, machinery, etc. are still imported in abundance.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is absolutely necessary to have competitive production of all these products in the country. \u201cIf there is a problem abroad, it affects us badly too.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Modi said the government is spending Rs 2.5 crore this year on import of fertilizers so that Indian farmers are not affected by high global prices. He also said that the farmers of the country should not be burdened and no new crisis should come on them, that’s why the government brings urea from outside for Rs.70-80 and supplies it to the farmers for Rs.5-6.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said that not only this, the Central Government stopped the black marketing of urea by coating it with 100 percent neem and restarted six big urea factories of the country which were closed for years. <\/span><\/p>\n
