What is the reason behind this trend?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For many years, Tier-1 cities like Mumbai, Delhi and Bengaluru has been the hub of the corporate world. However, in recent years, even non-tier-1 cities like Nagpur, Jaipur, and Coimbatore have become hotspots for business investment. There are three main reasons for this.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">High cost of living: Most of the metro cities are witnessing space crunch with increasing population. And the pollution is also unprecedented. Due to these reasons the cost of living has increased manifold. In contrast, living in non-Tier-1 cities is cheaper, allows employees to live better and has a better work-life balance. A recent study suggests that the cost of living in tier-2 cities is 10 to 35 per cent lower than in tier-1 cities. Businesses also get advantages like low operational cost and less competition.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Skill Availability: Tier-2 and 3 cities have seen an increase in the number of skilled people who have not yet worked and such cities are also becoming hubs of people with special expertise. Cities like Mangalore, Lucknow, Pune are growing in importance for finding IT and BFSI talent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Government Efforts: Through subsidies and interlinked programmes, the government has also played a key role in making rural areas employment hubs. The Smart Cities Mission aims to promote sustainable and inclusive urban development in 100 cities across India. This has led to the creation of new infrastructure such as roads, public transport and water supply systems, which have improved the quality of life and made these cities attractive for employees and businesses alike.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"> Similarly, the self-reliant India campaign launched in 2020 aims to promote domestic production, especially in rural areas. This has encouraged MSMEs to set up their base in such areas and generate local employment. Along with this, the migration of talents towards the metropolitan cities has reduced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Also, a large number of these belong to small towns and rural areas.
