{"id":39573,"date":"2023-07-12T12:53:23","date_gmt":"2023-07-12T07:23:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/plyinsight.com\/?p=39573"},"modified":"2023-08-02T10:33:06","modified_gmt":"2023-08-02T05:03:06","slug":"importers-found-evading-rs-11k-cr-igst","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/plyinsight.com\/hi\/importers-found-evading-rs-11k-cr-igst\/","title":{"rendered":"Importers found evading Rs. 11k cr IGST"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\"><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row\"><div class=\"wpb_column column_container col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The Directorate General of GST Intelligence (DGGI) and Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) have detected alleged Integrated GST evasion to the tune of 11,000 crore by 24 large importers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">They have served notices to seven importers from Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai jurisdiction and are in the process of sending notices to many more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The tax evasion in these cases has been detected based on data generated by the advanced Analytics in Indirect Taxation (ADVIT).<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">The government is now looking to further strengthen it to capture newer sets of information about importers and exporters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">While there were many instances of wrongly availing input tax credits, notices were being sent only in cases where data independently verified and investigated by field formations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The changes introduced include a comparison report between tax paid and tax payable populated in the GSTR-9 filed by taxpayers under the selected jurisdiction.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Officials can now get visibility on place of supply, amount of tax, ledger utilize, all at one place giving them a holistic view of payments made by taxpayers under the Know Your Taxpayer dashboard.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The new functionalities are intended to enable a deeper and richer analysis of revenue and of trends in both import and export. The functionalities make use of advanced data science models to detect outliers and anomalies both on the Customs as well on the GST side.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #000000;\">These functionalities will go a long way towards better understanding of our revenue profile and help plug any potential leakages.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a
