Penal provisions of the new law also include serving prison sentences.<\/p>\n<p>Sitharaman has given this assurance in a meeting with members of industry organizations and other industrialists in the Finance Ministry. Industry representatives have demanded a &#8216;quick fix&#8217; incentive package of \u20181 lakh crore from the government, so that demand and consumption can be restored as the economic growth rate has reached the lowest level under Narendra Modi&#8217;s tenure. .<\/p>\n<p>Sitharaman told reporters, &#8220;First of all I would like to hear the representatives of all these areas. Like bankers, their challenges should be understood before them and appropriate and swift action should be taken, so that those areas can be helped. We will take the opinion of various areas and then take steps so that trust can be restored in those areas. \u2018<\/p>\n<p>As per the amendments to the Companies Act, which has been passed by Parliament, the company and defaulting officers can be fined between \u201850,000 and \u201825 lakh for violations of CSR standards and imprisonment of up to 3 years for the officials responsible for it.<\/p>\n<p>Assocham President BK Goenka said that his group has sought a &#8216;quick fix&#8217; incentive package to restore the investment cycle in view of the current slowdown in the domestic and global markets. He said, &#8216;There is a need for immediate intervention in the economy by introducing incentive package. We have suggested a package of over \u20181 lakh crore. \u201dAjay Piramal of Piramal Enterprises said,\u201c The Finance Minister and all the officials of the Ministry listened very carefully to what the industry wanted to say. They were there for three hours. The main issue raised by us was the lack of cash in the system. This is not an issue of shortage of cash with banks, but the issue of not getting loans. As far as NBFCs are concerned, there is pressure on the economy and NBFCs are also impacting other industries, be it automobile, home loans or medium and small scale industries. \u2018<\/p>\n<p>Industry groups were unanimous in the meeting that banks are not giving the benefit of multiple rate cuts to customers. CII Vice President TV Narendran said, &#8220;In the last one year, there has been a total reduction of 75 basis points in the repo rate during February-June 2019, while the government banks&#8217; medium marginal cost of lending rate (MCLR) has been reduced by 10 basis points.\u201d CII has also advocated cutting small savings rates on the lines of market rates.<\/p>\n<p>Vodafone Idea Chief Executive Balesh Sharma said that Sitharaman asked the secretaries to address the issues raised by various industry organizations, especially with a strong emphasis on the demand for GST refunds to be
