- Specification for Block Board should also be simplified:
There is no major problem in amended QCO specifications. The standards of 303 are fine. Regarding MOR/MOE, we are making plywood from (unmatured) juvenile timber, of eucalyptus and poplar. Therefore, there may be some difficulty in meeting these standards, but mostly achievable.
We prepare block boards from thin, crooked or slant wood. Block board is not being imported. Its indigenous production is also decreasing. But there is a problem in achieving MOR /MOE in it. It is also necessary to promote the production of block board, because after using peeling grade timber, the remaining left out wood is used in it. If its specifications are made alike plywood, then the problem can be solved easily.
There is problem in drawing sample by BIS. The number of samples is very high. They are drawing six samples for one license, in a year. The industrialist will remain stuck in the game of passing samples only.
The number of samples should be less and reasonable. Because industry lacks skilled workers. Still it is a major employment provider to unskilled workers. The best situation would be that instead of drawing samples from the market, samples should be taken only from the unit.
- Suresh Bahety – You have recommended not to draw market samples. How will you control the products with fake ISI in the market?
- JK Bihani- Control of fake products has nothing to do with market samples. Rather, when goods with fake marking are drawn for sample in our name, we get complaints in testing reports and many times it is failed. Therefore, we request that samples should be taken either from the manufacturer or from the first point of sale. Not from any other third place.
- Suresh Bahety – If fake ISI goods are openly sold in the market, will the purpose of QCO be successful?
- JK Bihani- BIS and DPIIT will definitely find some solution for this.
- Devendra Chawla: President, AIPMA, Emm Dee Industries Yamuna Nagar
- BIS should cooperate industry by drawing sample from factory only:
Our industry is passing through a difficult phase. BIS samples should not be taken from the market. Samples should be – taken only from our factory. Once BIS is accepted by mass manufacturers, then strictness will be welcomed. In the starting phase, BIS’s should be cooperative with industry instead of being strict.
Because often attempts are made to sell fake goods in the market. If the sample fails, the company whose stamp is marked on these goods will have to bear the brunt.
- C N Pandey
There is definitely a need for modification in this. Because in the coming days, this will be a big hurdle. We will try to find a solution to this problem in discussion with IWST and BIS.
- Inderjeet Sohel: President, Punjab Plywood Manufacturers Association, Chairman, Harisar Industrial Corporation, Ludhiana
- Details with photo of market sample should be shared:
Bihani ji and chawla ji are right. Retailers use fake stamping of our brand very often. Therefore, if samples are drawn from market, then there will be regular chaos. If samples are taken from the seller, then the manufacturer should be informed with photos from where they have been taken.
