BIS Chandigarh branch has increased its activity in the last few days and raided many plywood factories of Yamuna Nagar and Jagadhari. According to the available information, such action was taken in Sanwariya, Lomas, Diamond and Chahal Ply.

During this time, illegal marking of BIS was found in these factories. Taking action under the misuse of BIS, many screens along with products bearing ISI mark were seized.

The purpose of this raid was to warn the factory operators that they should get BIS license as soon as possible and sell their products only by affixing ISI mark.

It is worth noting that IS 1659 has become mandatory from February 11 and IS 303 and all other types of products made of plywood from February 28. Such action is likely to continue in the plywood industry to comply with BIS standards under QCO.
