We are setting up a new bagasse based particle board unit in Shahjahanpur. The availability of bagasse in UP is quite good. Hence, it is expected that this unit will get a continued supply of raw material for long.
As reiterated in this event of Samvad and Samadhan, currently a lot of facilities are being provided for making new investments in UP. All this information is available on the portal of UP government.
As far as this project is concerned, we have received a lot of support from the government machinery. Whether it is the availability of land or any other technical support.
Shri Ashok Agarwal is a well-known industrialist of Uttar Pradesh. During his tenure as the President of the Indian Industries Association, he played a very important role in the expansion solving the problems of various industries. Even now, he is respected a lot in the entire UP administration including the Chief Minister’s Office.
Although the Uttar Pradesh government is enthusiastic about any new investment, we personally got the added benefit of encouragement and support from Mr. Ashok Agarwal, which smoothened our project.
However, shifting the new unit of the plywood industry to another state at this time may not be the right step. There are many reasons for this. Current market situation, higher prices of raw materials. Along with QCO, labor is also a main reason. Along with this, the biggest reason is that a lot of money will have to be spent to reset an existing plywood unit in any other state.
It is quite challenging to bring the unit into profit after investing so much money. There is no doubt that the UP government is making various efforts to support in this direction. Still, this effort is not enough to shift the industry from other states.
Even at this time, it would be a big achievement if plywood manufacturers operate their existing plants properly. The plywood industry is currently going through a changing phase.
There is no stability in the market yet. Therefore, it may not be right to make new investments at this point. It cannot be considered a practical step for the old manufacturers to shift their plants from here to UP or anywhere else.
Obviously those who want to set up a new plant can definitely take advantage of the concessions being given in UP, especially in Saharanpur.
Because the availability of wood in Uttar Pradesh is quite good, especially due to agroforestry. In fact, we can say that 70% of the supply for Haryana’s industries is coming from UP.
For any manufacturer who wants to set up a new wood-based industry, UP is the best destination right now.
