The Indian government is planning to extend the existing BIS fee concessions for MSMEs (Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises) for another three years beyond the current May 2026 deadline, with a formal proposal moved by BIS.
This extension aims to continue the current relief structure, which offers 80% fee reduction for Micro, 50% for Small, and 20% for Medium enterprises, encouraging quality adoption in manufacturing.
Current Concession Details (Until May-2026)
- Micro Enterprises:80% fee concession.
- Small Enterprises:50% fee concession.
- Medium Enterprises:20% fee concession.
- Start-ups:Also receive an 80% fee concession.
- Women-Led Enterprises:An additional 10% concession on top of their base MSME rate.
The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has proposed extending these financial incentives for another three years.
This extension aims to provide continued support for small businesses in obtaining quality certifications as India focuses on a “quality-first” approach to manufacturing.
The extension is under consideration and, if approved, will maintain significant fee relief for MSMEs and start-ups in BIS certification well past the current May 2026 deadline, supporting their growth and quality standards.
