Felicitation of SAJJAN BHAJANKA by FIPPI

Shri Sajjan Bhajanka Outgoing Chairman of FIPPI, Chairman of Century Plywood Industries Ltd., was felicitated by Rajesh Mittal, present Chairman of FIPPI, Managing Director of Green Ply Industries Ltd. and Jaydeep Chitlangia, Secretary General of FIPPI and Mentor of Duroply Industries Ltd. along with Dr. M.P. Singh, Director General of FIPPI and ex Director IWST.

Expressing his gratitude to FIPPI and all the fellow industrialists for this special honour, Sajjan Bhajanka reminisced about his industrial journey. He recalled that he started his journey in 1976 by a rented peeling machine at Margherita (Assam) for Rs. 3500 per month. Moving ahead, he revived Associated Ply in 1982.

When import of timber and face veneer was allowed in July 1986, he joined hands with his classmate Madhukar Agarwal, elder brother of Sanjay Agarwal. The objective of this association was to operate the face veneer trade from Calcutta port to avail the benefits of timber import.

This was the humble beginning of, Century Plywood Ind. Ltd. from Calcutta with just Rs. 0.60 crores. It has now grown to a Rs. 24,000 crores company. With passage of time, production of laminate was started and Chennai factory of Vishnu Agarwal amalgamated in Century Ply.

By the grace of God we got association of strong, visionary and goal driven partners, who contributed immensely in the expansion of Century Ply.

Inspired by these successes, we established our units in Karnal, Guwahati, Kandla, Hoshiarpur, Kadapa. This increased our production capacity of MDF, Particle Board and Laminate apart from plywood.

Sajjan Bhajanka was confident that India will now become the third superpower in the world after America and China very soon. FIPPI along with the entire panel industry, under the leadership of Rajesh Mittal and Jaydeep Chitlangia, will touch new heights in the coming decade. And will keep pace with the progress of India.
