A ceasefire was announced between India and Pakistan On May 10. As soon as it was announced, everyone was relieved. Wood traders and the plywood industry also praised it.
The border districts of Punjab were affected the most by this conflict. There used to be a blackout at night in Ambala, Yamunanagar, Sirsa of Haryana as well. Now, as soon as the situation is going to become normal due to the ceasefire, the markets are bustling with activity.
Subhash Jolly, patron, Wood Technologist Association, said that Pakistan has learned a lesson for its deeds. India is a peace-loving country. Which is rapidly moving towards economic development.
As the situation was developing in the country these days, the country’s market was also worried. Now after the ceasefire market will definitely rise. Customers will return to the market once again.
Naresh Tiwari Chairman, All India Plywood Manufacturers Association said that whole of the wood industry and plywood industry are going through a phase of change at the moment. The plywood industry needs a peaceful environment to develop more rapidly as the Mandatory BIS has been implemented. This ceasefire is a pleasant message for the plywood industry if seen in this context.
Inderjit Singh Sohel President Punjab Plywood Association said that due to the Indo-Pak conflict, markets were closed in many border areas including Amritsar, Pathankot, Jalandhar, Ludhiana.
There was almost no customer in the markets. Most of the attacks from Pakistan were targeted towards Pathankot, Amritsar and Ferozepur. Due to this, the people of the border area were quite worried. The economic activities had stopped here. People’s attention had become more on their own safety. This is natural. Because first of all, the safety of oneself and the family should be taken care of.
But now with the ceasefire, economic activities will also accelerate in these areas.
Naresh Tiwari said that in many places in Punjab, migrant labour was also worried about their safety. Many labourers were returning back. This could have affected every industries including plywood industry and agriculture sector. But now due to the situation becoming normal, these people will also stay in their work area.
Ashok Kumar Tajpuria President, Wood Based Industries Association of UP hoped that the situation will become normal soon. He said that such conflicts have a great impact on economic activities, especially industry.
Since this deadlock ended soon, it should now be expected that economic activities will return to track quickly.
JK Bihani President, Haryana Plywood Manufacturers Association said that it is good that both the countries have agreed to a ceasefire. He said that India is rapidly emerging as a developed country and our industry is developing constantly.
Due to such circumstances, industrial activities either come to a standstill or slow down. Which adversely effect the ongoing growth.
It is very important for the industry to have normal and peaceful environment. Hopefully, everything will calm down now. Which will normalize the situation in the market again.
