Reports indicate that significant damage was caused by a fire that broke out on March 13, 2026, at Bihari Ji Plywood, located in the Masuri-Gulawathi Road Industrial Area (Dhaulana Phase 1) in Hapur. According to the information received, there were very few employees present in the factory when the fire started in the morning. Consequently, the exact cause of the fire remains unclear.

The raw materials used in a plywood factory—such as wood, core veneers, face veneers, and chemicals—as well as the finished plywood products, are all highly flammable substances. This significantly accelerates the rate at which a fire spreads, making it extremely difficult to bring the blaze under control. Furthermore, 70 to 80 percent of the factory premises are typically occupied by raw materials, chemicals, machinery, and finished or semi-finished plywood, which hinders the movement of firefighting personnel.

Despite the frequent occurrence of such fire incidents, it is distressing to observe a persistent lack of mindset among factory operators regarding the implementation of adequate fire safety measures and access arrangements.
