  • Complications will make the working difficult :

It can be difficult to work amidst so many restrictions and standards. The industry already has to deal with so many departments.

The industrialist can produce but lacks finer points. Therefore, the process of standards should be simple. If not there will be a possibility in growth of corruption.

With so many norms and so many categories, won’t the work become very difficult?

This is the reality of the industry. Therefore, the process should be such that the industrialist can easily fulfill the standards, and the buyer get a better product. Therefore, it is requested that the processes should be simplified. Make such rules which can be followed easily.

However, we have covered a long path in this process, which cannot be stepped back. The industry itself demanded that standards should be implemented immediately. Because problem lies with the imported product, where the import of low quality cheap goods had to be stopped. There was never any such intention to disturb the industry.

You are expert in production. Because you have been already making products according to these standards. You are capable of it.

You don’t need to panic at all. The BIS will function as before and if you read a bit carefully, you will see that the processes have been simplified a lot. The standards were relaxed on the advice of the industry. So that the product is not rejected.

In normal circumstances, two market and two unit samples have to be drawn for each license.

Farmers prepare trees with so much efforts, which is a national asset. We have to conserve our raw material and also take care of the industry. Therefore, we must have to make quality products.

There is nothing in these standards that cannot be achieved. Recently, on Independence Day, the Prime Minister also appealed that we have to make our quality at par with international standards.

These standards have been made very wisely to support juvenile timber obtained from agro forestry. The IWST director Dr. MP Singh, who, while being in his position, has tried his best to design these specifications in a very flexible manner according to the demand of the industry.

There is absolutely no need to panic for it. Definitely you have to manage it a bit. If you keep an passed out expert from FRI or IPIRTI in your unit, then the work will become easy. Who will handle these responsibilities easily.

They also conduct short term courses for your regular staff.

If there is any doubts, then discuss it. There was demand from the industry, to implement QCO.

  • Ashok Tajpuria

We are with you in this entire process. There is no demand to withdraw QCO.

We just want that things should be simplified. The law should not be so strict, the process should not be so complicated that we become completely dependent on experts. If we see the example of laminate, there is no problem in it. The process is simple.

But when it comes to plywood, the standards are high. And explained variation in the raw material is more.

The new process of grading may create some confusion. It should be simplified and explained. There is no doubt that the product we are manufacturing is completely in accordance with the standards. But standards should not be entangled in technology. We really want our products to match with international level.

The only problem is that we should understand what to do? We do not have any negative thoughts about standards. We should not go back. We have to move ahead. It just needs a little improvement. So that the standards can be brought down to reality.
