  • Half the journey is completed, half is yet to be completed:

Regarding the QCO standards, we can say that a lot of hard work has definitely been done by the CED20. Many such changes have been brought in the interest of the industry, so that the industry can now implement BIS easily in an organized manner. Half the journey has been completed. But half the journey is yet to be completed.

The standards of block boards can be easily fulfilled if good quality pine wood is available. But the availability of good quality pine wood is decreasing and is becoming expensive.

The area of agro-forestry has decreased in the entire country. Due to which wood is becoming costly. The industry has repeatedly demanded from the government that barren land be given to the industry, so that wood can be grown by planting trees on it. So far no positive initiative is seen in this direction.

The standards are a good effort, but attention will also have to be paid to how they will be implemented. At present there are not enough laboratories. Our own samples remain for six months for the test report. The number of samples should also be reduced. This is a natural product. Plywood is not a medical or food product.

Difficulties may increase a bit when QCO will be implemented. The behavior of BIS officials should also be professional. My suggestion is that if the methods adopted by international countries and agencies are adopted, then the problem can be reduced to a great extent.

When we are talking about international standards, then obviously, availability of raw material and other related conditions should also be the same.

We will have to pay attention for the availability of the raw material to the industry. Sustainable agro-forestry is a need of the hour. Transportation of wood should be easy. There is lot of hurdles in carrying wood from one state to another. This should be checked. Administrative formalities should be reduced.

In foreign countries, they conduct factory audit two to four times a year. The same system should be implemented here as well. This will reduce the problems of the industry and system will also remain smooth.

Because if favorable changes are not made in the system, then ultimately the entire burden will fall on the consumer. Due to which the basic spirit of QCO will be destroyed. Things will remain unchanged.

Sampling is a very important issue. Because by trapped up in it, the main issues of QCO goes a behind. We have to improve our quality, and to make it international. What technical advancement do we have to do for that, this should be the priority for us. In our daily routine, there should be respect for BIS and not fear, only then we will be able to take the right benefit of this QCO.

  • One audit every four months will be enough :

There are five different categories in IS 303, it will be better if these are made into three categories.

Instead of batch of resin, each shift of each press or the number of daily production (say 1000 pes) should be considered as one batch. This will make the work easy.

Young officers of BIS are visiting to take samples. They do not know much about the practicality of the unit. They look at the guidlines which is given to them as per the standards. But sometimes this complicates the situation.

BIS should shift from the system of taking random samples. There should be a system of three or four audits in the factory. Even at the international level, there are three or four samples. All the licenses in the factory should be audited at one go. If this system is implemented, it will be beneficial for the industry and BIS.

  • Flush door and block board are the lifeline of the industry:

The system of drawing samples need to be simplified. The process of factory testing of resin will also have to be simplified. jabra products in flush door and block board are the lifeline of the industry. Proper standards will have to be formulated for this. Otherwise, the industry may get into trouble.
