  • We will have to unite and raise our issues in front of BIS regarding standards:

The industry has now started to worry about BIS. The ideological thinking and concerns of industrialists of different segments are becoming similar. The problem is that till now no collective effort has been made by the industry to raise its genuine demands before BIS. In fact, the truth is that most of the people lack information about the basic provisions, which provisions are problematic and which are manageable.

The time for implementing QCO is getting closer. It is also a fact that there is no way to go back. BIS is strict in implementing the standards.

In present circumstances, now we have to think that if there is stop marking when sample fails, then what will happen to the unit? What will happen to the workers and employees working in it.

Whenever your sample fails, if it fails in one standard, then you are warned and corrective action is expected from you. If it fails in two standards, then stop marking is effected immediately and the sample has to be sent for testing again. If it unfortunately fails again due to any reason, then the license will be cancelled and you will have to apply for a new license. During stop marking, you cannot produce and sell goods.

It usually takes three to four months to resume from stop marking.

Door specification has come into effect in 2023. Those who have given consent to BIS for it, can no longer produce and sell Jabra Door as per the rules.

If QCO is implemented in these current circumstances, then about 30 percent of the micro units will be affected. They will not be able to handle these provisions. Those who are technically sound will get the opportunity to increase the business.

There is six months time before February. Bureau of Indian Standards is perhaps the only department in the country, which does not make any change without the consent of its subscribers (industrialists). In such a situation, if 50 industrialists march together and ask for the change, then the department will have to make the change. But if we do not talk about it, and once the standards are notified, then nothing will happen. It will have to be implemented only.

There are some restrictions with BIS. BIS will follow only the guideline. There is no provision in the BIS Manual for any kind of relief for Minor Defect. And this is applicable on all items. If relief is to be given, it will not be given only to ply but on all types of products.

When BWP has been included in IS 303, IS 710 should have been banned in the domestic market. So that the common

consumer can get relief from the harmful chemicals of IS 710. And the dealers also cannot demand 710 from the manufacturer.

Today there has been a lot of discussion. Many new things have come out. It is hoped that the industry will take positive steps.

There are not many chances of major amendments at this juncture. However, if there is any small change then it can be considered. Now it is time to move forward.

Although, very big changes cannot be made at this stage. But if there is really a serious issue and you represent it through your committee, IWST will provide all possible help in it. Implement this QCO with a positive attitude. I assure you that IWST will always be ready to cooperate with you.

  • Advancing by accepting change is the ladder of development:

Changes should be welcomed for good. It is true that whenever there is a change, it takes some time to adopt it. As well as Extra effort is required. Because we have to walk on a new path with new mind set leaving the routine path.

It is also true that our industry is now ready to climb a new level of progress. We will take our product to international quality by adopting QCO. Now the time has come that Indian products should be famous abroad as well. QCO is an effort in this direction. It is hoped that we will move forward rapidly by adopting new standards, this is both the demand and need of the time.

Thanks to all the speakers, participants and audience.
