Workers and factories are complementary,
cannot imagine the industry without them

If you will give due respect to the workers, pay proper amount for their hard work, then they will stand with you all the time. The sooner he is allowed for going home, the sooner he will come back. Your belief about workers seems to be correct.

See, the workers should be allowed to go. It would not be right to stop them. They should be let go with love. They should be given full payment for his work. Because right now, he is not going to stop. Do not force. Some people are stopping the money of workers, some are giving extra money . this is not right. It should be avoided. Let the worker fulfill his wish. It is a difficult time, at this time he is feeling safe among his family. One cannot imagine a factory without a worker. Workers should be allowed to go. We have been living in the house for one and a half months, they had to stay in small rooms without work, due to which they are mentally affected. Now they have got the freedom to go home. So they should be let go. We should understand this.

Then should the factory be closed?

Yes, as we have been forced to close for forty plus days in lockdown, we should be patient, now also. Workers have gone home from every market or are about to leave. When there are no workers in the market, consumption will be less. That situation is going to come, in that case the sale will be down , then we will have to close the factory again.

• Would it not be right to run the factory at low capacity?
• If we run the factory with less production, The overhead will increase sharply.
• Timber supply will not open in the market, hence the rate of timber may be arbitrary on higher side.
• The major hurdle will be seen in increasement of our outstandings

There is also a fear that the infection will spread in June-July.

If the infection spreads, the factory will have to be closed. One thing is clear that if situation improves then the factory will run, the workers will come back. If there will be disturbances what is the use of running a factory? Why to get into debt. Now will people purchase Ply or their life. We have decided now. Only time will tell whether it is right or

What will happen if the workers do not return?

See, if the workers do not come back, there will be no work. But understand one thing, work cannot be done without a laborer. This situation is for the whole country. What will happen if the infection spreads in the worker? If everything goes well according to God and nothing is spoiled, then the factory will run. If all goes well, as soon as it starts, within five to seven days the factory speed will be achieved. There is nothing without a laborer. everything will be alright with dedicated workers, there is no problem in production. If the situation worsens now, we will also have the responsibility of workers. Today if he is going, he should be let go.

Now some people are making cheaper products by running factories at low capacity, they can take advantage of the market.

This is the immediate effect. Nothing is going to happen with this. This can make the situation worse. The situation may worsen. People have their own perception.

Tried to run the factory

यदि आप मजदूरों को उचित सम्मान देंगे, उनकी मेहनत के उचित पैसे देंगे तो वह हर वक्त आपके साथ खड़े रहेंगे। वह जितनी जल्दी जा रहे हैं, उतनी ही जल्दी वापस भी आयेंगे। लॉकडाउन में टॉक टू प्लाइवुड इंडस्ट्रियलिस्ट सीरिज में इस बार श्री विमल चोपड़ा से बातचीत। श्री बिमल चोपड़ा प्लाइवुड जगत के जानेमाने उद्योगपति हैं। वह मेट्रो ग्रुप, यमुनानगर के डायरेक्टर हैं।

मजदूरो के बारे में आप की धारणा सही साबित होती नजर आ रही है

देखिये मजदूरों को जाने देना चाहिये। उन्हें रोकना सही नहीं होगा। उन्हें प्यार से जाने दिया जाना चाहिये। उन्हें जाते वक़्त पूरा पैसा दिया जाये। क्योंकि इस वक्त वह रुकने वाले नहीं है। जबरदस्ती नहीं करनी चाहिये। कुछ लोग मजदूरों का पैसा रोक रहे हैं, कोई लालच दे रहे है । यह सही नहीं है। इससे बचना चाहिये। मजदूर को अपनी इच्छा पूरी करने दो। यह मुश्किल घड़ी है, इस वक्त वह अपने परिवार के बीच खुद को महफूज मान रहा है। मजदूर के बिना फैक्टरी की कल्पना नही कर सकते। मजदूरों को जाने देना चाहिये। डेढ माह से हम तो घर में रह रहे हैं, उन्हें छोटे छोटे कमरों में बिना काम के रहना पड़ा जिससे वे मानसिक रूप से प्रभावित हुए हैं। अब उन्हें आजादी मिली है घर जाने की। इसलिए उन्हें जाने देना चाहिये। हमें यह बात समझनी चाहिये।

फिर क्या फैक्टरी बंद रखी जाए?

हां जब लॉकडाउन में चालीस & ब्यालीस दिन हमने बंद रखी है तो थोड़ा और सब्र करना चाहिए। मार्केट से मजदूर घर चले गए हैं या जाने वाले हैं। जब मार्किट में मजदूर ही नहीं रहे तो माल कंज्यूम ही नहीं होगा। वह स्थिति आने वाली है उस स्थिति में सेल बिल्कुल ही बैठ जाएगी तब हमें वापस फैक्टरी बंद करनी पड़ेगी।

क्या फैक्टरी कम क्षमता पर चलाना सही नहीं रहेगा?

• कम प्रोडक्शन से फैक्टरी अगर हम चलाते हैं तो ओवरहेड बहुत बढ़ जाएगा।
• टिंबर खुल कर नहीं आएगी] बाजार में उससे फिर टिंबर का रेट मनमाना या ज्यादा हो सकता है।
• सबसे बड़ी बात हमारी आउटस्टैंडिग बढ़ेगी ; घटेगी नहीं।

एक डर यह भी है कि जून जुलाई में संक्रमण फैलेगा।

यदि संक्रमण फैलता है तो फैक्टरी बंद करनी पड़ेगी। एक बात स्पष्ट है कि यदि सब ठीक रहा तो फैक्टरी चल जायेगी, मजदूर वापस आ ही जायेंगे। यदि कुछ ठीक नहीं होता तो फैक्टरी चलाने का फायदा क्या? क्यों कर्ज में डूबना है। अब लोग प्लाइ को देखेंगे या फिर अपनी जिंदगी। हमने तो निर्णय ले लिया है ।अब वक्त ही बतायेगा यह सही है या गलत।

मजदूर वापस ही नहीं आयी तो क्या होगा ?

देखिये यदि मजदूर वापस नहीं आऐगी तो काम नहीं होगा। लेकिन एक बात तो समझे मजदूर के बिना काम हो ही नहीं सकता। यह स्थिति तो पूरे देश की है। यदि मजदूर में संक्रमण फैल गया तो फिर क्या होगा। अगर सब कुछ भगवान के अनुसार ठीक ठाक रहा और कुछ नही बिगड़ा तो फैक्टरी चल जायेगी। सब ठीक रहा तो जैसे ही शुरूआत होगी, पांच सात दिन में ही फैक्टरी स्पीड पकड़ जायेगी। मजदूर के बिना तो कुछ नहीं है। सब ठीक हो जायेगा। मजदूर है तो प्रोडेक्शन में कोई दिक्कत नहीं। अभी यदि स्थिति खराब हो गयी तो मजदूर की जिम्मेदारी भी हमारी होगी। आज वह जा रहे है, उसे जाने देना चाहिये।

अब कुछ लोग कम क्षमता पर फैक्टरी चला कर सस्ता उत्पाद तैयार कर रहे हैं , वह बाजार का फायदा उठा सकते हैं

यह तत्कालिक प्रभाव है। इससे कुछ नहीं होने वाला है। इससे तो हालात और ज्यादा खराब हो सकते हैं। स्थिति और बिगड़ सकती है। लोगों की अपनी अपनी धारणा है।

कोशिश थी कि फैक्टरी चलनी चाहिए

अब धारणा बदल रही है, अभी स्थिति ठीक नहीं है। जल्दबाजी करना सही नहीं है। लोगों को 1947 की भी याद आ रही है। आज लगभग भारत की स्थिति वैसी है। हम मजदूर को समझा सकते हैं, यदि वह मान जाते हैं तो ठीक है, यदि नहीं मानते तो उन्हें जाने देना चाहिए और उन्हें घर जाने में हमे भी सहयोग करना चाहिए। ईश्वर सब सही करेंगे। यह समय भी हमें निकालना पड़ेगा। यह अभूतपूर्व स्थिति है, शांति और सौहार्द्र से भविष्य की तैयारी में अपना ध्यान केंद्रित करने का प्रयास करें, सभी।
