QCO /BIS

As a trader we all are ready to welcome QCO to improve standards of our Plywood and other surface products.

But here is a big but…

Are we ready in India for this…

No doubt we are having very advance technology plants and machineries in India.. and we are capable to produce Good quality material as per international market … again BUT ..because we find short cuts to do fast turn over … causing sub standard material… 30 % material in plywood we can see with marking:

  • 100% water proof
  • Life time guarantee
  • Gurjan inside …
  • Dipping with IS: 710 …

on this what we have to say … by doing this???

Definitely QCO will boost Indian industries… but are we prepared for this ….

I don’t have any doubts on Indian industries or manufacturers..

I am saying we can make best of best quality material but same again – but at what price point…

Lot of products which we are importing that quality with price point we can’t produce in India…

No doubt we are having very advance technology plants and machineries in India.. and we are capable to produce Good quality material as per international market

Vibrant Buildcon

QCO: Advantages

  1. Ensure product quality
  2. Consumer protection

(but at the same time we need to educate people by conducting seminars)

  1. Global competitive..
  2. Encourage domestic manufacturers.
  3. Boost exports ..
  4. will help uniform pricing near future

QCO:  Disadvantages

  1. Increase cost for furniture manufacturers and end user
  2. Impact on SME-Small scale manufacturers may struggle to comply due to limited resources… potential driving them out of the market.
  3. Supply chain disruptions -… import may be delayed or restricted … leading to supply chain issues and Increase product cost .
  4. Limited market: QCO may reduce number of players in the market … potentially impacting consumer choice.
  5. Admistrative burden: QCO requires extensive infrastructure for testing and certification … which may not be readily available…

Basically my view – small players will suffer the most and cost of raw material for furniture/ plywood/ other surface products will Increase…

end of the day burden Wil be on  consumer.

Major point: if we see vision of make in India then why rumores in market that QCO might give exemption on few products

Like.. plywood below 4mm thickness / MDF below 4mm thickness/ Birch plywood / ( unfinished ) Matt Plywood product/ flexible plywood

Make in India – then let’s focus on above products to make in India…

If in imports we are getting sub standard material then definitely we should oppose that by putting MIP (minimum import prices on those kind of product which are available in India at par quality …
