R.K. Sapra, IFS (Retd.), and former Managing Director of the Haryana Forest Development Corporation, delivered a presentation on April 16, 2025, in Panchkula to the High-Powered Committee, headed by Justice Nawab Singh who retired from Punjab and Haryana High Court. on Agrarian Reforms constituted by the Hon’ble Supreme Court. The topic of the presentation was “How to Increase the Income of Farmers through Agroforestry.”

The presentation emphasized the need to establish a Wood Development Board of India under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change.

Key points included the promotion of research and development, extension services, and the extension of incentives and concessions—currently available for agricultural crops—to tree crops as well, to eliminate the existing disparity.

It was also highlighted that encouraging the establishment of large-scale wood processing plants by domestic and international companies would significantly boost the export potential of wood and wood-based products.

Additionally, the presentation advocated the liberalization of licensing procedures for wood-based industries utilizing farm-grown timber.
