Devender Chawala in Haryana Forest advisory committee

Haryana Government has constituted an Advisory Committee of Forest Department Haryana. The committee will provide good quality saplings for plantation, along with this it will also prepare a plan for how the industries will get adequate amount of wood. Devender Chawala, President All India Plywood Manufacturers Association has been made member of the said advisory committee. The first meeting of the committee was held on 23rd of November.
The meeting, held at Panchkula Van Bhavan, was presided over by Jagdish Chandra PCCF of the Forest Department. The meeting was attended by Nodal Officer Subhash Yadav TOFI PRO Haryana Manoj Dabas TOFI chief of party, Dr Suresh Gairola, FSC Director India, KC Meena, IFS, APCCF officer Navodita IFS, CCF.
Giving information about the committee meeting, Devendra Chawla said that the main objective was to plant more and more saplings in addition to forest department lands.
In order to provide adequate quantity of good quality saplings to the farmers, it was decided to establish a hi-tech nursery in the forest land at Manakpur, Yamunanagar. Along with this, the Forest Department will also call a large meeting of plywood industry and farmers in Yamunanagar. In this meeting, emphasis will be laid on how farmers should be motivated towards planting trees. An appeal will be made to the industry to take meaningful steps towards giving fair price for wood to the farmers. So that the farmer gets a fair price for the wood he grows.
Devendra Chawla said that this time it was emphasized that an action plan will have to be prepared regarding how the industries will get adequate quantity of wood. The committee will take care of the strategy made.
As the way BIS standards have been set regarding plywood in the country. Quality is being discussed. This objective can be achieved only when high quality wood is available as raw material. Therefore, now the time has come that farmers and industrialists will have to come on one platform. Forest department will play a big role in this. Together we will work towards increasing the production of wood and will also ensure that the industry gets high quality wood on a regular basis. Along with this, farmers should also get fair price for wood. Chawla said that the government, especially CM Manohar Lal, is serious about this. This committee has been formed on his initiative only.
