Complete ban on cracker sale and use by NGT

The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has directed a complete ban on the sale and use of all types of firecrackers during the epidemic in all cities and towns of the country, including the National Capital Region, where air quality is in the ‘moderate’ or below category.

A bench headed by NGT chairman Justice Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel said that it would continue of its directive for exemption of maximum two hours of use of green firecrackers in cities and towns where air quality is in the ‘moderate’ or below category. The NGT said that during Christmas and New Year, green firecrackers would be allowed from 11:55 pm to 12:30 am at places where the air quality is in the ‘moderate’ or lower category.

राष्ट्रीय हरित अधिकरण (एनजीटी) ने महामारी के दौरान राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र समेत देश के उन सभी शहरों व कस्बों में हर तरह के पटाखों की बिक्री और इस्तेमाल पर पूर्ण प्रतिबंध का निर्देश दिया है, जहां वायु गुणवत्ता ‘खराब’ या उससे ऊपर की श्रेणी में है।

एनजीटी के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति आदर्श कुमार गोयल की अध्यक्षता वाले एक पीठ ने कहा कि उन शहरों व कस्बों में हरित पटाखों के अधिकतम दो घंटे के इस्तेमाल की छूट संबंधी उसका निर्देश जारी रहेगा, जहां वायु गुणवत्ता ‘मध्यम’ या उससे नीचे की श्रेणी में हो। एनजीटी ने कहा कि क्रिसमस और नववर्ष के दौरान उन जगहों पर रात 11 बजकर 55 मिनट से साढ़े बारह बजे तक हरित पटाखों के इस्तेमाल की इजाजत होगी, जहां वायु गुणवत्ता ‘मध्यम’ या उससे निचली श्रेणी में है।
