Immediately Adopt FASTag, Deadline Won’t Be Extended: Nitin Gadkari

Fastag will be compulsory from 15 February at 12 pm in all toll plazas of the country. Under the new arrangement, cash lanes will be closed in all NH tolls and vehicles without fastag will have to pay double toll charges. If a vehicle’s fastag account is not recharged, the driver will be able to recharge it in 3 minutes on toll.

Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday said deadline for the implementation of FASTag would not be extended further, and the vehicle owners should immediately adopt the e-payment facility. Mr Gadkari said the government had extended FASTag registration date limit two-three times before; Now, everybody should immediately buy FASTag.

The FASTag registration has gone up to 90 per cent on some routes and only 10 per cent people are left. FASTag is also available on toll nakas and people should purchase and use it for seamless traffic, he said. The central government extended the FASTag deadline for the vehicles from January 1, 2021, to February 15, 2021.

आज से फास्टैग जरूरी, न लिया तो दोगुना टोल

देश के सभी टोल प्लाजा में 15 फरवरी रात 12 बजे से फास्टैग अनिवार्य हो जाएगा। नई व्यवस्था के तहत सभी एनएच टोल में कैश लेन बंद हो जाएगी और बिना फास्टैग वाले वाहनों को दोगुना टोल शुल्क भरना होगा। अगर किसी वाहन का फास्टैग अकाउंट रिचार्ज नहीं है, तो वाहन चालक टोल पर इसे 3 मिनट में रिचार्ज करा सकेंगे।

केंद्रीय परिवहन मंत्री नितिन गडकरी ने फास्टैग अनिवार्य करने की समय सीमा को आगे नहीं बढ़ाया जाएगा। उन्होंने कहा कि वाहन मालिकों को तुरंत इस ई-भुगतान सुविधा को अपनाना चाहिए। फास्टैग टोल नाके पर शुल्क के इलेक्ट्राॅनिक भुगतान की सुविधा प्रदान करता है।
