NGT seeks views on temporary ban on firecrackers in Delhi-NCR

The National Green Tribunal on Monday issued notice to the Environment Ministry, Delhi government, pollution control agencies, and neighboring states seeking their stand on whether the use of firecrackers should be temporarily banned from November 7 to November 30 in the interest of public health and environment.

A bench of the NGT, headed by its chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel issued notice to the Environment Ministry, Delhi government, Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), Delhi Pollution Control Committee, Delhi government, Delhi Police, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, asking them to file their replies and listed the matter for November 5.

एक याचिका में एनसीआर में पटाखों का इस्तेमाल कर प्रदूषण फैलाने वालों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई किए जाने का अनुरोध किया गया है। जिस पर कार्यवाही करते हुए राष्ट्रीय हरित अधिकरण (एनजीटी) ने पर्यावरण एवं वन मंत्रालय और चार राज्य सरकारों को नोटिस जारी कर पूछा कि क्या जन स्वास्थ्य एवं पर्यावरण के हित में 7 से 30 नवंबर तक पटाखों के इस्तेमाल पर प्रतिबंध लगाया जाना चाहिए। अधिकरण के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति ए के गोयल की अध्यक्षता वाले एक पीठ ने पर्यावरण एवं वन मंत्रालय, केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड (सीपीसीबी), दिल्ली प्रदूषण नियंत्रण समिति, दिल्ली के पुलिस आयुक्त और दिल्ली, हरियाणा, उत्तर प्रदेश और राजस्थान की सरकारों से उनका जवाब मांगा।
