Reduce dependence on imports

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that we have to reduce our dependence on imports from supply chain to finished goods. If we can’t accomplish it, the revival of the economy and the pace of recovery may be in jeopardy.

The Finance Minister also said that if we are able to reduce our import bill in energy and other sectors with the help of new technology and investment, then we will also be able to remove poverty. The savings by reducing the import bill can be used to remove economic disparity. With the economy booming, workers are now in a bargaining position for their wages.

The Finance Minister suggested the entrepreneurs of the country that this is the right time for new investments. They have to come forward to reduce imports of finished goods with dependence on others for the supply chain. When the market for consumption is in India, one cannot be allowed to dominate this market for the supply chain. Entrepreneurs can bring components to the manufacturing of the supply chain, but it is not a good idea to bring in fully finished goods.

In a program organized by the industry organization CII, the Finance Minister said that this is a golden opportunity for the entrepreneurs to expand their production capacity and develop new industries, as there is a huge demand in the market right now. We cannot leave this demand to be met by imports.

आयात पर निर्भरता घटाएं

वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने कहा है कि हमें सप्लाई चेन से लेकर तैयार वस्तुओं तक के लिए आयात पर अपनी निर्भरता घटानी होगी। अगर ऐसा नहीं हुआ तो अर्थव्यवस्था का जो पुनरुत्थान हुआ है और रिकवरी में जिस तरह की तेजी है, वह खतरे में पड़ सकती है।

वित्त मंत्री ने यह भी कहा कि अगर हम नई तकनीक व निवेश की बदौलत ऊर्जा व अन्य क्षेत्रों में अपने आयात बिल को कम करने में सक्ष्म हो जाते हैं तो हम गरीबी भी दूर कर सकेंगे। आयात बिल कम करने की स्थिति में होने वाली बचत का उपयोग आर्थिक विषमता दूर करने में किया जा सकता है। अर्थव्यवस्था में तेजी आने से श्रमिक अब अपनी मजदूरी के लिए मोलभाव की स्थिति में आ गए हैं।

वित्त मंत्री ने देश के उद्दमियों से कहा कि यह ऩए निवेश का बिल्कुल सही समय है। सप्लाई चेन के लिए दूसरों पर निर्भरता के साथ तैयार माल का आयात घटाने के लिए उन्हें आगे आना होगा। जब खपत का बाजार भारत में है तो सप्लाई चेन के लिए इस बाजार पर दूसरे को हावी नहीं होने दिया जा सकता है। उद्दयमी सप्लई चेन के निर्माण को कंपोनेंट ला सकते हैं, लेकिन पूरी तरह से तैयार माल लाना ठीक नहीं है।

उद्दयोग संगठन सीआइआइ के एक कार्यक्रम  में वित्त मंत्री ने कहा कि उद्दमियों के लिए अपनी उत्पादन क्षमता का विस्तार करने और नए उद्दयोग को खड़ा करने का यह सुनहरा अवसर है, क्योकि अभी बाजार में भारी मांग है। इस मांग की पूर्ति को हम आयात के भरोसे नहीं छोड़ सकते हैं।
