Russian Crude Oil Firms Offer Big Discounts to India

As stringent sanctions imposed by the European Union and the United States cripple business and trade, desperate Russian oil companies are offering huge discounts to India.

According to sources familiar with the development, Russian oil firms are offering 25-27 per cent discount to the dated Brent crude prices.

According to a Bloomberg report, Russia’s flagship crude oil was offered at $ 11.60 barrels below the dated Brent just before the sanctions were imposed.

India’s crude oil import dependence on Russia is small as it gets 70 per cent of the requirement from OPEC nations. Crude oil import by India is around 4.2 million barrels per day in 2021, which was less than what the country was importing before the Covid-19 pandemic period.

Brent crude prices surged past $ 100/bb1 after Russia invaded Ukraine in the last week of February. India, which imports over 80 per cent of its crude oil requirement, will be hit hard of prices stay elevated. JP Morgan has forecast crude oil prices to reach $185 a barrel by the end of the year.

यूक्रेन पर रूसी हमले के बाद यूरोपीय संघ और अमेरिका ने रूस के कारोबार तथा व्यापार पर तमाम सख्त प्रतिबंध लगा दिए हैं। इससे परेशान रूस की तेल कंपनियां भारत को भारी छूट पर कच्चा तेल देने को तैयार हैं।

तेल कंपनियों ने मौजूदा भाव के मुकाबले 25 से 27 फीसदी कम दाम पर कच्चा तेल देने की पेशकश की है।

ब्लूमबर्ग की एक खबर के मुताबिक रूस की प्रमुख कंपनी ने प्रतिबंध से ठीक पहले की तारीख के भाव से 11.60 डॉलर प्रति बैरल कम भाव पर कच्चे तेल की आपूर्ति का प्रस्ताव दिया है।

भारत रूस से काफी कम तेल आयात करता है और अपनी जरूरत का 70 फीसदी कच्चा तेल ओपेक देशों से खरीदता है। 2021 में भारत ने रोजाना 42 लाख बैरल कच्चे तेल का आयात किया था, जो कोविड से पहले के आयात की तुलना में कम है।

यूक्रेन पर रूसी हमले के बाद कच्चे तेल का दाम 100 डॉलर प्रति बैरल के पार पहुंच गया है। भारत अपनी जरूरत का 80 फीसदी कच्चा तेल आयात करता है। ऐसे में इसके दाम बढ़ने से खजाने पर बोझ बढ़ेगा। जेपी मॉर्गन ने साल के अंत तक कच्चे तेल के दाम 185 डॉलर प्रति बैरल पर पहुंचने का अनुमान लगाया है।
