Submission based on the revised specifications applicable for Wood based industry

IS 303:2024 and Amendment No. 1

a. Clause 11.6, please allow the spectrophotometer test method to test formaldehyde content, refer clause 2.3 of IS 13745.

b. Based on the bending class please group F10-F30 and F30-F50 for sampling and GOL.

c. Please refer Annexure A of PM/IS303/3/July 2024, s. no. (d) change as below:

Formaldehyde Class: E1/E2 to Formaldehyde Class: E1, E2

IS 1659:2004

a. Clause 4.4, Include bending class F10, F20, F30, F40 and F50 instead of F30 and F50 only.

b. Clause 4.1, add BWR grade also

c. Clause 7.3, Remove the requirement of “Variation in thickness on a board” as block board is constructed with the help of multiple numbers of wooden strips called battens. Out of many it is very difficult to control the thickness accuracy of each and every batten. During the hot press process the compression loss may differ because of the density variation in timber.

a. Clause 5, Remove the requirement of Modular and non-Modular sizes (Table 2) and grouping guideline as per the product manual. Like other products (IS 303, IS 1659 etc..) please allow the maximum dimension mfg. capacity of manufacturer during GOL.
