Naresh Tewari Appointed Chairman of Punjab’s Furniture & Ply Industry Committee

The Government of Punjab has officially appointed Sh. Naresh Tewari as the Chairman of the Sector-Specific Committee on Furniture & Ply Industry. The announcement was made by Sanjeev Arora, Cabinet Minister for Industries & Commerce, Investment Promotion, and NRI Affairs, Punjab.

Recognizing his leadership and commitment to the growth of the industry, the government expressed confidence that Tiwari’s guidance will help the committee achieve its critical objectives. The newly formed committee will play a key role in shaping a customised industrial policy framework for the Furniture & Ply sector in Punjab.

The initiative is part of the state’s broader mission to promote industrial innovation, sustainable development, and employment generation. The Department of Industries & Commerce is driving the effort through extensive industry consultations and collaboration.

Under Tiwari’s leadership, the committee will review successful policy frameworks from other states and develop a “best-in-class” model tailored for Punjab. ADC (General), Hoshiarpur will support the committee as Member Secretary, and the committee is expected to submit its final recommendations by October 1, 2025.

This strategic move is seen as a major step toward transforming Punjab’s industrial landscape and boosting the state’s competitiveness in the furniture and plywood manufacturing sectors.
