Logistics firms face hurdles in transporting cargo

Though the government has allowed movement of essential and non-essential goods during the 21-day nationwide lockdown imposed to control the spread of coronavirus disease (Covid-19), logistics players are facing a tough time transporting cargo.The most impacted have been truck drivers, who have had to bear the ire of the authorities and face stigma in their villages.
Small businesses, too, have been affected.

Trucks were in transit when the lockdown was announced. By the time they reached their destination, they were stopped at the borders and weren’t allowed to enter States.
While most drivers working for logistics firms are unwilling to make trips, those who are ready, face issues as basic as not finding food and water on the way. For the drivers, there are no dhabas, no workshops open along the routes, even though the government has allowed eateries to remain open.

With warehouses of most firms being shut, or working in single shifts, drivers often find that there is no one to receive the goods at the destinations.

In some cases, the lack of clarity over which items are classified as essential and non-essential has resulted long lines at borders.

कोरोनावायरस (कोविड-19) वैश्विक महामारी के प्रसार को रोकने के लिए 21 दिनों के देशव्यापी लाॅकडाउन के दौरान सरकार ने आवश्यक वस्तुओं की आवाजाही की अनुमति दी है। लेकिन लाॅजिस्टिक कंपनियों को माल ढुलाई करने में काफी समस्याओं का सामना करना पड़ रहा है। सबसे ज्यादा प्रभावित ट्रक ड्राइवर हुए हैं जिन्हें अधिकारियों की झिड़की सहने के अलावा अपने गांव में भी लोगों के गलत वर्ताव से जूझना पड़ता है। छोटे-मोटे कारोबार को भी तगड़ा झटका लगा है।

जब लाॅकडाउन की घोषणा की गई थी तो ट्रक ट्रांजिट में थे। उनके गंतव्य तक पहुंचने से पहले ही सीमाओं पर उन्हें रोक दिया गया। उन्हें राज्यों में प्रवेश करने की अनुमति नहीं दी गई।

लाॅजिस्टिक फर्मों के साथ काम करने वाले अधिकतर ड्राइवर ट्रिप पर जाने के लिए तैयार नहीं हो रहे हैं और जो तैयार होते हैं उन्हें रास्ते में भोजन-पानी जैसी बुनियादी जरूरतों के अभाव से जूझना पड़ता है।

ड्राइवरों के लिए कोई ढाबा नहीं है, मार्ग में कोई वर्कशाॅप खुला नहीं है जबकि सरकार ने भोजनालयों को खुले रहने की अनुमति दी है। वे सभी पड़ोसी गांव में रहते हैं और सार्वजनिक परिवहन की कोई सुविधा फिलहाल नहीं है।

अधिकतर कंपनियों के गोदाम बंद हैं अथवा वहां केवल एक पारी में काम होता है। ऐसे में ड्राइवरों का कहना है कि अक्सर गंतव्य पर माल प्राप्त करने वाला कोई नहीं होता। कुछ मामलों में आवश्यक वस्तुओं को लेकर अस्पष्टता के कारण सीमा पर लंबी कतारों का सामना करना पड़ता है।
