All India Recon Veneer Manufacturers’ Association (AIRVMA) has requested DPIIT to make a separate classification for recon veneer.

Traditionally, Face veneer is manufactured either by rotary peeled or directly sliced. Whereas, Reconstituted (Recon) veneer is an engineered wood, which includes multiple processes to manufacture. The process involves rotary peeling, layer gluing, compressing and slicing into specific sizes and thicknesses.

Further, recon veneer is manufactured from fast growing, farm grown or plantation Timber viz popular, which further encourage farmers to grow more.

Hence, request from AIRVMA for reclassification for a dedicated category of Recon Veneer, to distinguish it from the normal face veneer is a genuine demand.

Various plywood manufacturer Association have supported the AIRVMA, including (AIPMA) All India Plywood Manufacturers’ Association and (AIPLI) All India Plywood and Laminate Industries.

AIRVMA has further requested DPIIT to increase the BCD to 35%, in order to protect domestic manufacturers, from unfair competition and support Indian reconstituted veneer industry
