Kerala’s Wood Industry acknowledges Vaidya’s Urea-Free Bio Resin

In a groundbreaking achievement, Kerala’s wood industry has taken a significant step towards sustainability with the adoption of urea-free bio resin in plywood and particle board manufacturing. K Board Ply, a leading plywood manufacturer, has acknowledged the contribution of Srikanth Vaidya in developing this innovative bio resin by printing his name on every plywood manufactured with the tagline “MADE FROM VAIDYA’S BIO GLUE.”

A Game-Changer for the Industry

The Particle Board and Resin associations of Kerala State recently decided to switch to urea-free resin systems, and several units have already started implementing this eco-friendly technology. Two plywood units in Kerala have successfully implemented urea-free glue in their manufacturing processes, with many more expected to follow suit in the coming weeks.

According to Vaidyanathan, each ton of this bio resin, E 1 by default, can offset the use of 325kg of urea, resulting in significant environmental benefits. A particle board plant using 30 tons of this resin daily can offset nearly 10 tons of urea, while a medium-density fiberboard (MDF) plant consuming 80 tons per day can offset 26 tons of urea.

Riyas M. H., President, SOPMA, praised the innovation, saying, “This is a game-changer story for the wood industry. Mr. Vaidyanathan’s bio resin has proven to be 100% successful, offering a significant cost advantage compared to conventional alternatives. This breakthrough is not only a local success but a scalable solution with the power to transform the industry nationwide.”
