Companies in India are increasingly focusing on physical or mechanical AI. L&T Technology Services (LTTS) has announced the launch of its first experimental centre in India dedicated to AI-driven engineering intelligence.
The lab will explore how artificial intelligence, digital twins (exact digital replicas of real-world machines or factories created on computers), and autonomous robots and machines can work together across the entire manufacturing cycle.
Based on the technology platforms of Siemens and NVIDIA, the lab will also demonstrate how AI can be deployed across manufacturing facilities, warehouses, distribution networks and supply chains.
According to the company, the objective is to automate operational processes and improve productivity.
The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of LTTS said that AI is currently being used primarily in application engineering. However, the opportunities for its application in physical assets embedded in products and manufacturing facilities are significantly greater.
