PRESS NOTE

With the efforts of Dr. Jatinder Sharma IFS PCCF (PB), a one day interactive meeting between Scientists from Forest Research Institute Dehradun and representive of plywood and solid wood industry of Punjab was organized on 15th October 2019 at State Forest Research Institute, Lodhowal. The industry representatives were very happy to interact with scientists and discussed their problems and product manufacturing. Supply of raw material was cause of concern. Industry told that material is not available to the full capacity of peeling lathes. Dr. N K Upreti from FRI gave a detailed presentation on useful research works done and being carried out by Forest Products Division for the benefit of the industry. Various trainings are also available at FRI which can solve day today technical problems faced by industry in product manufacturing. Shri Sunil Kumar IFS, APCCF and Smt Pratima Srivastava, Director SFRI also addressed the gathering, Shri Naresh Tewari (Century MDF Hosiarpur) from industry also interacted and told about the present scenario in plywood industry. Dr. Kishan Kumar, Shri D P Khali, Ms Ismita, Shri Ezhumali and Dr Shailendra from FRI were also present.

All are jointly agreed to have two day workshop at FRI Dehradun and will discuss technical problem with Wood Technologists to improve the quality of panel product very soon.
