Greenply Industries demonstrated the production activities of its Sandila (Uttar Pradesh) based plywood unit to industrialists who arrived from Haryana, Punjab, and Delhi. Although every manufacturing unit prefers to keep its production techniques as secret as possible, Mr. Rajesh Mittal, President of FIPPI (Federation of Indian Plywood and Panel Industry), set an inspiring example by opening up the Sandila unit to fellow industrialists.

In this unit, the core is pressed with additional moisture. Generally, in the manufacturing of any plywood, the moisture content of the core is maintained between 4% to 10%. If the moisture content exceeds this level, defects like bubbles or steam pockets typically occur.

However, in this technique used by Greenply at its Sandila plant, the moisture content of the core is maintained at 15%, resulting in significant energy savings. Utilizing a specially formulated resin, these plywood sheets are first pre-pressed, and then finally shaped through hot pressing.

This technology had been a topic of discussion in the industrial sector for a long time, but due to the lack of direct observation, industrialists were in a state of dilemma about whether they should adopt it or not. After witnessing this technique firsthand at the Greenply plant, the concept became clear to the industrialists. They were able to understand both the advantages and the challenges of adopting this future technology.

Welcoming the industrialists arriving primarily from Punjab and Yamunanagar, Mr. Rajesh Mittal stated that an industry progresses and grows only when everyone collectively carries an idea forward together. Although adopting new technologies available in the market involves high initial costs, it gradually reduces day-to-day operational expenses. To compete with advanced technologies like MDF, the plywood industry must also change its mindset and strive to become cost-competitive.

Mr. J.K. Jain and Mr. Shivaprakash from Greenply welcomed the delegation of industrialists to the factory and demonstrated the entire technology in detail with absolute dedication and responsibility.

At the conclusion of this event, Kalyan Industries, Chopal Industries, and wudmac Industries provided detailed information about their various upgraded machines. The aforementioned machinery manufacturers had supported the Plywood Manufacturers Welfare Association in this event as co-sponsors.

The Vice President of the Association, Mr. Deepak Aggarwal, Secretary Mr. Anuj Garg, and Treasurer Mr. Shekhar Aggarwal thanked all the guests and industrialists for their cooperation in making the event successful.

Ply insight launched on March 2018 with a vision to make a platform to collaborate plywood MDF, Laminate, machinery manufactures with dealers in the Trade.
