Dear HPMA Members,

The below mentioned matters were discussed and decided in the Executive Committee meeting of the HPMA held on 12^th Jan. 2019 at Hotel Dawate Plaza, Yamuna Nagar.

1. From now onwards all remittance charges are to borne by the buyers of goods.
2. Can we do away with BIS marks?

The fellow manufacturer are hereby informed that  Lok Sabha has just passed a Consumer Protection (Amendment) Bill 2018 specifies that if goods are not according to the specification/composition of label/ stamp fixed on it, the consumer can file criminal complaint. Earlier it was a civil complaint. A consensual decision in this regard can be taken in consultation with other states’ association involving resolution of General Body of each state.

Therefore it is to be debated that whether we can do away with BIS marks completely and design our own cluster standards such as HPMA-303, Green have surrendered BIS license. They are using Century-710 and Green-710 and the like.
