Problem in BIS will be Resolved in Future

1. Why was there opposition to QCO in the plywood and panel industry?

As per my knowledge, those who have BIS license or produces good quality products are not opposing BIS. There may be many people who are working as cottage industries, are opposing and they have not yet taken the license. They should take the license.

This is our India. We cross the red light, or do not wear helmets, now, all the people have stopped crossing the red light and have started wearing helmets, when challans are reaching their homes.

2. Have all the problems been resolved now? What changes are still required?

It is not so, problems will always remain in our journey, as long as we do business or run industry, all the problems cannot be resolved. Still, there are some problems in the BIS standards, which will be resolved in future.

3. Since when have you been familiar with BIS? What changes have you seen in it from the beginning till now?

I have been familiar with the industry for the past 30 years and there have been constant changes in it. Earlier, it was quite tough. Now, it is gradually becoming easier. Yes, more changes and amendments are still required to ease the process.

4. How much do you agree with the changes made in the 303 standards? How helpful are they?

Regarding the changes in the IS 303 standards, we can say that these changes will be very helpful for everyone in the industry. Certainly, even those people who make slightly lower quality plywood will be able to justify their quality. Because the standards have been made much easier now. Whoever makes a product of whatever quality, will be able to mark it accordingly. Nothing could have been easier than this.

5. Do you think that QCO will be implemented on the scheduled date?

I think that in any case, QCO will be implemented by its scheduled dates. Because the government is committed to reduce imports by increasing indigenous production.

6. If QCO is not implemented on the scheduled date, what problems might the industry face?

If QCO is not implemented by the upcoming deadline, then our customers will have to buy the inferior and substandard goods, imported from neighboring countries. Industries as well as customers will face a lot of problems.
