New 27-acre greenfield plant to strengthen North India operations, with planned capacity expansion to 1 lakh CBM and over 1,000 employment opportunities

HOSHIARPUR, October 12, 2026: Century Plyboards (India) Ltd. has inaugurated its new plywood manufacturing facility in Hoshiarpur, Punjab, marking a significant milestone in the company’s expansion strategy and reinforcing its manufacturing presence across North India. Developed with a planned investment of approximately ₹215 crore in two phases, the greenfield facility is designed to meet the growing demand for plywood across northern and north-western markets.

Spread over 27 acres, the plant represents a strategic investment in strengthening production capacity, improving regional supply and bringing the company closer to key customer markets. The first phase involves an investment of ₹180 crore, with the remaining investment planned for the second phase as the facility expands its manufacturing capabilities.

The inauguration was attended by CenturyPly Chairman Shri Sajjan Bhajanka, Managing Director Shri Sanjay Agarwal, Executive Director Shri Keshav Bhajanka and Executive Director Ms. Nikita Bansal. The facility will manufacture plywood under the company’s commitment to delivering products without compromising on quality.

Seventh Plywood Manufacturing Plant in India

The Hoshiarpur facility is CenturyPly’s seventh plywood manufacturing plant in India, adding to its established manufacturing network across West Bengal, Guwahati, Chennai, Gujarat, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The new unit is expected to strengthen the company’s ability to serve important markets, including Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Delhi-NCR, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.

Hoshiarpur offers several operational advantages due to its proximity to an established timber and plywood ecosystem, availability of skilled manpower and connectivity to major consumption centres. These factors make the location suitable for serving a wide regional market while supporting efficient movement of products through the supply chain.

With the commissioning of the new facility, CenturyPly aims to improve product availability, respond more quickly to changing market requirements and reduce delivery timelines for customers across North India. The plant is also expected to support the company’s wider pan-India manufacturing and distribution network.

Production Capacity to Reach 1 Lakh CBM

The facility will commence operations with an annual production capacity of 60,000 cubic metres (CBM). Under the planned second phase, the company intends to increase this capacity to 1,00,000 CBM within the next six months, allowing production to expand in line with market demand.

At full capacity, the facility is expected to contribute annual revenues of approximately ₹600 crore. This expansion comes at a time when CenturyPly’s existing plywood manufacturing network is operating at high capacity utilisation, making additional manufacturing capacity important for supporting future growth.

The plant will use advanced automated systems across different stages of production. Technology-led processes and consistent quality-control measures are intended to improve operational efficiency, maintain product standards and support manufacturing at scale.

The phased expansion approach will give the company flexibility to increase production while aligning investment and operational capabilities with demand across its target markets.

Strengthening Customer Proximity and Supply-Chain Efficiency

Commenting on the development, Ms. Nikita Bansal, Executive Director, Century Plyboards (India) Ltd., said the commissioning of the Hoshiarpur facility was an important step in strengthening the company’s manufacturing presence in North India and advancing its commitment to producing uncompromising plywood.

She highlighted that the project was not simply about adding production capacity, but also about getting closer to customers, strengthening the supply chain and responding more effectively to changing market needs.

According to her, the initial capacity of 60,000 CBM, with plans to scale up to 1 lakh CBM within six months, will provide the flexibility to build production capacity in line with market demand. She also emphasised the importance of technology-driven manufacturing, operational efficiency and consistent quality in achieving the facility’s long-term objectives.

The new plant is expected to support these priorities by improving regional product availability and helping the company respond more efficiently to customer requirements. Its location is also expected to facilitate better coordination between manufacturing, distribution and consumption centres across northern markets.

Employment Generation and Regional Economic Development

Beyond strengthening CenturyPly’s manufacturing operations, the project is expected to generate economic benefits for the surrounding region. The company anticipates the creation of more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities through plant operations and allied sectors.

The facility is expected to support local employment, contribute to skill development and create opportunities for vendors and businesses associated with the plywood manufacturing ecosystem. Increased industrial activity may also support related services and livelihoods in the region.

By expanding its manufacturing footprint in Punjab, CenturyPly is adding to the industrial infrastructure available to serve the northern Indian market while strengthening its engagement with the regional supply chain.

Focus on Responsible and Sustainable Manufacturing

The Hoshiarpur facility has been designed with a focus on operational efficiency and responsible resource utilisation. Its features include automated production processes, centralised dust collection systems, wastewater treatment facilities and provisions for rooftop solar power generation.

The plant is also designed to utilise wood waste generated during manufacturing as fuel, helping improve resource efficiency through the productive use of process-generated waste.

Together, these measures reflect the company’s approach to integrating resource conservation, waste reuse and cleaner-energy provisions into its manufacturing operations. Alongside technology-led production and quality controls, these features are intended to support efficient plant operations.

The facility has also been designed with future expansion in mind. The second phase is expected to enhance its production and processing capabilities over the coming months, further strengthening the unit’s role within CenturyPly’s manufacturing network.

Supporting CenturyPly’s Long-Term Growth

The inauguration of the Hoshiarpur plant marks an important addition to CenturyPly’s manufacturing infrastructure. With an investment of approximately ₹215 crore, a planned capacity increase to 1 lakh CBM and an expected contribution of around ₹600 crore in annual revenue at full capacity, the facility is positioned to support the company’s growth across high-potential northern markets.

By combining additional production capacity, improved customer proximity, automated manufacturing and resource-efficiency measures, CenturyPly aims to strengthen product availability and delivery performance while expanding its presence in North India.

The project also highlights the importance of regional manufacturing investments in supporting industrial growth, employment generation and the development of associated supply chains. As the second phase progresses, the Hoshiarpur facility is expected to become an important component of the company’s broader manufacturing and distribution strategy.
