The Punjab Plywood Manufacturers Association has issued an important notice to all its members, announcing a significant decision in response to the sharp and indiscriminate rise in the prices of key raw materials—Phenol and Formaldehyde. These chemicals are essential for plywood manufacturing, and their escalating costs have put considerable pressure on the industry.

In a unified move to safeguard the interests and long-term stability of plywood manufacturers, the association has decided to suspend industrial operations for three days each week until further notice. This decision reflects a collective effort by industry members to counter the ongoing challenges posed by inflated raw material costs.

According to the association, the price surge is largely attributed to alleged black marketing practices by importers and traders, who are believed to have formed a cartel and are artificially driving up prices. By reducing the consumption of these chemicals through partial shutdowns, the industry aims to pressure suppliers to release their stock into the market at more reasonable rates.

Sri Inderjeet sohel, president to PPMA  has urged all members to extend full cooperation and strictly adhere to the decision, emphasizing that unity is crucial during this period. The move highlights the industry’s determination to tackle the crisis collectively rather than individually.

Further updates are expected as the situation evolves, and the association has assured members that they will be kept informed of any new developments.

Reaffirming the spirit of solidarity, the message concludes with a strong note: “Together we stand strong.”
