To effectively control the Black marketing of fertilizers,. The Agriculture Department has released new software for the e-PoS system. With this update, complete information will now be available about where and how much fertilizer a farmer has purchased in the past. If the e-PoS machine is taken to a different location and a fingerprint is used, it will automatically shut down.

To completely curb the black marketing of fertilizers like urea, DAP, NPK, MOP, and SSP, the Agriculture Department has developed this new software. Old (L-Zero series) e-Pos devices are being phased out and replaced with new models such as the L-one.

e-PoS machines are available with cooperatives, sugarcane societies, and shopkeepers. Fertilizer sales to farmers are done through these machines, yet complaints of black marketing continue.

There were frequent complaints that the machine was taken to another location for fingerprint authentication, and fertilizer was distributed to someone else.

With the new version of e-PoS, farmers will now be able to purchase fertilizers only in the quantity permitted according to their landholding. Earlier, farmers were able to buy fertilizers from multiple locations because their purchase data could not be tracked.

The new system captures transaction data, including the farmer’s photo, and sends it directly to central system, increasing transparency. It aims to prevent the misuse or diversion of fertilizers for non agricultural purposes.
